In fifth grade, I decided I didn’t want to be a teacher anymore because I didn’t want to deal with those students that thought they knew the material I was teaching better than I do. Junior year, I realized I was called to become a high school teacher, and I’ll probably run into more of those types of students there than I will anywhere else (and I know this because I’ve had these thoughts about certain teachers myself).
Sophomore year I decided I would go to a CSU because it would be cheaper. I’m going to a private university, and I’m living on campus when I can commute 40 minutes if I really wanted to.
I’ve hated history since third grade. By being a high school English teacher, not only will I be constantly involved with history (because the books in the English curricular tend to relate to the history classes students will be taking at the same time), but I’m also a religious studies minor with an emphasis in Christian history. CHRISTIAN HISTORY. I’ve indirectly declared myself a history minor.
I remember where I’ve been. I don’t know what’s changed, but I like where it’s headed.
