Things I love about break: Truck shifts

As bizarre as this sounds, I love doing 8 hour shifts starting at 3AM. I love being able to get off at 11:30 so I can have the rest of the day to kick it with my girls. There’s a certain calmness in the wee hours as I drive to Emeryville and look at all the lights. There’s a quiet in the store as we stock the shelves, one that I get for six hours in the morning versus the thirty minutes at night. There’s the replenishment manager, who always manages to teach me something about life whenever I work with him. And of course, there’s the amazing night’s sleep I’ll get the next day.
